Tuesday 29th May: Air – Pressure and vacuums! (ages 5-10)
Air literally is the science all around us. We will be looking at how air can lift up water, make a teabag fly and even create sound! Children will be able to discover for themselves the amazing principles of air by blowing, spinning and even propelling the molecules all around us as well as learning Bernoulli’s principle, one of the fundamental scientific principles.
Wednesday 30th May: Light, illusions and 3D films (ages 5-10)
In this session we will be looking at what makes up light, how light enters our eyes and is interpreted as a picture and also how our brain can be tricked into seeing things that aren’t really there. There will be expanding heads, disappearing and appearing images and rainbows from light. We will also be making some fantastic 3D pictures to take home.
Thursday 31th May: Sounds – Vibrations and waves (ages 5-10)
In this session we will be looking at what exactly a sound is and how they are made and interpreted by our bodies. We will be having the ultimate competition to see who can make the biggest sound wave and learning some key terms in the world of sound. Children will be able to see how different notes are made and how sound travels through different materials, including their heads!
*Friday 1st June: Fantastic flight (Recommended for ages 5-10) The flying that goes on all around us involves an incredible amount of science, and we are going to be learning all about that science, all in one action packed session! We will be looking at different types of flying craft from aeroplanes to helicopters and even birds. Children will have the chance to make and play with many types of flying craft whilst learning about air resistance and lift. There may even be a super rocket launch to finish!

Future Leaders in STEM.

Our sessions are filled with discussion, demonstrations and plenty of creative and inspiring experiments. STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Rather than teach the four disciplines as separate and discrete subjects, STEM integrates them into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications.
